Brainspotting

Brainspotting was discovered in 2003 by David Grand, Ph.D. Brainspotting locates points in a client’s visual field that help access unprocessed stress and emotions in the subcortical level of the brain. Sometimes our brains get “stuck” and cannot fully process certain events or memories. Brainspotting uses visual fields to help clients locate these “stuck” areas, and supports the brain into processing these experiences to lead to a better sense of self. I am a certified Brainspotting Practitioner. You can learn more about brainspotting here. Brainspotting as been shown to be an effective treatment for those experiencing the following:

  • Impulse Control

Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

TF-CBT is an evidenced based therapy to help children and adolescents cope with effects of a stressful or traumatic event. It helps children and their parents learn new skills to process their thoughts, feelings, and cope with everyday stressors. The goal is to help the client cope with the stressors they endured, and move forward in a safe and positive way. Alyssa is also trained in TF-CBT for Commercial Sexual Exploited Children.
