My Approach to Therapy

Brainspotting is an innovative therapy designed to help clients access deep emotional healing by targeting specific eye positions that unlock stored pain and trauma. This brain-body approach goes beyond traditional talk therapy, offering faster relief and long-lasting change.

Brainspotting Therapy

TF-CBT is an evidenced based therapy to help children and adolescents cope with effects of a stressful or traumatic event. It helps children and their parents learn new skills to process their thoughts, feelings, and cope with everyday stressors. The goal is to help the client cope with the stressors they endured, and move forward in a safe and positive way. Alyssa is also trained in TF-CBT for Commercial Sexual Exploited Children.

I place a strong emphasis on collaboration and acceptance. My aim is to meet you where you are at, and provide you tools along the way to help you navigate your journey in life.

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)

Do you feel that tension in your shoulders, the knot in your stomach, or the heaviness in your chest? That is not “random”. It is your body trying to tell you exactly what it needs. 

As a therapist, I help you tune into those signals with a sense of clarity and confidence. Instead of pushing through stress or disconnecting from your body, we find ways to help you understand the messages your nervous system sends you everyday. By noticing the patterns in your breath, your posture, your sensations, etc., you can release stored tension, calm your mind, and feel more grounded. 

Somatic based interventions empower you to reconnect with yourself, trust your body, and build emotional resilience from the inside out.

Somatic Therapy

This is a gentle, fast acting approach that helps people heal from painful memories, anxiety, and stress without having to relive every detail. ART works by combining calming eye movements with guided visualizations, helping your brain “recode” distressing images and sensations. Many clients describe it as finally being able to breathe again. The memories are still there but the pain does not have to be attached. Sessions are focused, empowering, and often lead to noticeable relief after a few sessions.
